Answer» Hello.
I have recently BOUGHT two new 1GB PC2700 RAM STICKS for my COMPUTER. The problem comes when I try to combine them with my older RAM sticks, which are two 512MB sticks PC3200. If all sticks are inserted my monitor won't GIVE me any screen. The two new stick works if you use only them, and the same goes for the older ones.
My motherboard is an MSI K8T Neo2, and has four DIMM slots. Is there any way for me to be able to use all of my memory sticks at once? ( 512mb+512mb + 1024mb+1024mb )
Thanks for any reply. The only thing I can suggest is trying the PC2700 in the first two slots with the PC3200 in the last two, and vice versa. If it doesn't work, then you won't be able to use the four memory modules together.
What did you buy the PC2700? I switched them around the slots and the computer started this time, but froze at the WINDOWS splash screen :/
I made a misstake as I bought the 2700 sticks. I wasn't careful enough to actually look what I bought it seems...
Thanks for your suggestions however!Take a look at http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8T_Neo2-F&class=mb , and note the comment in red under Main Memory. Perhaps changing a setting in your BIOS will fix this. No guarantee but it's worth looking into. I see ( reading the link )
I thought about chaning settings in the BIOS but I'm not sure of what to actually change. I have never changed timing or voltage etc. Can you help? This is going to vary by brand of model of motherboard and I'm not familiar with your motherboard. But, see the info here on memory timing: http://www.msicomputer.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp#2_5I will look into it and reply if I have any success. If not I may have to return the sticks I bought.
Thanks for your help
