My vista laptop randomly SHUTS down, no blue SCREEN. It does not when I am in safe mode. Anyone know whats up?

I don't think it's overheating. I'm just doing something and the screen goes black and the power shuts off. I have windows vista business. I don't think it's a virus, I scanned like 5 times. It would be great to know what causes this or at least a program that fixes it. I am in safe mode now.Open msconfig and do a selective startup (disable EVERYTHING from loading) and reboot.
