Solve : Randomly shutting down?

Answer»

So I recently purchased on walmart a hp laptop here is a link to the computer:

It is a refurbished dv7 notebook.
The FIRST STRANGE thing I noticed when I got the computer is it makes odd beeping sounds whenever I move it. Plugged in or not plugged it it makes odd beeping sounds. I cant tell if certain movements make it BEEP or what. It happens when I lift it and set it down. Does not make the sound when not moving the laptop ever from what I can recall.

The big problem is over the past few days 4 times the computer has suddenly blackscreened. The power light and wifi light are on but the computer is unresponsive to any keyclicks, no sound etc. I have to manually shut down the computer with the power button. When I turn the computer back on its fine. I can not recall if the computer was plugged in but I do know the battery wasnt dead I always check often and plug it in before it hits 20%.

These are the only issues I am having.

Good evening alexsteproe and welcome to CH

For one I would buy an extended warranty. When the SCREEN is going black screened that is the LCD / LED panel more than likely I have had to replace a lot of those panels on that model but on the far side it could be the motherboard etc. That model only has a 90 day warranty also.

The beeping can come from many different things, you may be hitting one of the quick launch buttons and when you do they will beep. The battery could be not completely seated so it is braking contact. The memory may need to be reseated, The hard drive may need to be reseated. If I was you I would get in-touch with HP right a way and let them repair it on their dime

Please let us know if you have any more questions, Mike So it's not just gone into sleep MODE then?
