Answer» First, and important, thing to do is ESTABLISH whether you have a FULL version cd of your OS. Sometimes suppliers put a hidden Recovery PARTITION on the hard disk and supply just a recovery cd. If you FORMAT your hdd you may delete the recovery partition, then you would be up for big bucks to buy a suitable OS. Take care out there!At least you've learned about Dell. To format put your XP cd in the DRIVE and boot.. You might have to change the Bios boot sequence to boot from the cd first but try it before changing Bios, it might already be set. Follow the on-screen prompts. Good luck..and if this is your first format/re-install read the screen messages fully before responding to them.What are the issues leading to the formats? Details are important.If you just clean up the hard-drive and then MAKE a drive image you can restore easily from the drive image.
