Solve : Really old laptop battery?

Answer»

I have a REALLY old laptop, I think it's from the early 90's. It has DOS and WINDOWS 3.1 on it. The battery really sucks, it lasts about 15 minutes. Is there something I can do to make the battery a bit better? In the BIOS settings, under power management, there is an option called deep discharge. Maybe that would help? Perhaps, yes.
Also, try this.
Charge battery fully.
Enter BIOS.
Pull the plug, LET the battery run down completely.
Charge up again without turning the laptop on.
That's the usual steps to help BATTERIES last a little longer, it may or may not help in this case as the battery is ancient.
Is a new battery an option? Thanks, I'll try that. A new battery isn't an option because I tried looking for one on eBay and there was only one battery that was compatible and it cost something like $100. I don't plan to spend more than 5 bucks on this old junk. The company that made this laptop is AST and from what I could find on the internet they went bankrupt or something, lol.OK, just thought I'd mention it.
It's unlikely the battery will get much of a boost because of its AGE, whatever you do, but hopefully it will help.
