Solve : recover old files from 8year old HD.?

Answer»

ok i have an old Dell Dimension desktop that i've had for years. the intergraded video gave out and is preventing me from getting on it so i can recover all the old FILES that i have on its HD. i have found away to get on it by using my ATI Rage card to temporary let me get the files by pluggin in the ATI card, boot up the Dell, and copy all my documents on to a flash drive. but im wondering if i should even attempt this since i have had the COMPUTER unplugged for a year and a half. could the data on the HD worn out since it stores the data magneticly.

please respond
,Nick I can't see, why not to try.thanks for the reply.

i was just thinking since its been unplugged for such a time that the data on the HD would fade out since its STORE magneticallyWorth a try if there's data you really want. And it is ENTIRELY possible that the data is still intact.
