Solve : Regional Setting on DVD player??

Answer»

I just purchased a DVD double Layer player and have installed it on my desktop. There is this "set REGION" issue on it. Must I set a region, or can I LEAVE it unset. I live in Ghana and the DVD Player is a SAMSUNG. Must I set it to US because I watch DVDs in English? It depends on what regions DVDs you're planning to watch.
But remember, you can change region only FIVE TIMES! After that, you're stuck with latest setting.

Like Broni said, you can only change your region 5 times, then it can't easily be changed again. However, there are region-free (also called region 0) DVD drives and players available, if you have the NEED to be able to watch DVDs from multiple regions. However, some DVDs from certain companies are designed to refuse to play on players of this type.

I currently live in region 3, but I watch DVDs from 1 (US/Canada), 2 (Japan/Europe) and 3 (Southeast Asia). So both my drive and my player are region free devices. I've had no problems yet, and I've got quite a collection of DVD movies (over 200).

If you are interested in a region-free player/drive and watching movies from different places, make sure you get one that supports both NTSC and PAL.

Wikipedia has a good article on DVD zones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code
