Answer» Anyone know if it is easy to remove the HDD from one of these all-in-one (all built into the screen) Sony VAIO PCs? I haven't actually collected the machine yet so don't know if how to take it apart is obvious.
This machine is around three years old and was running VISTA, probably Vista home.
The machine suddenly failed to boot with hard drive problems, APPARENTLY the built in (Sony/Vista?) recovery options check-disk took three whole days to run! Just to make matters WORSE the owner doesn't have any Vista recovery disk, no one had TOLD him that he needed to burn his own one.
My current thoughts are to start by transfering the HDD to another machine (2003 or 2008 server) and then see how a check-disk gets on running it from there.https://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=Remove+HDD+from+Sony+VAIO+all+in+one+PC++&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS369US309&ie=UTF-8
