Answer» I have a HP laptop which is about 2 years old. Works fine except when in a certain open position, it goes dark !
I am assuming that there is an intermit/break in the RIBBON cable between the screen and main lap COMPUTER...?
WOULD someone correct me if I'm wrong..? I'm a communications Tech myself and would like to repair it myself since I
think it is out of warranty. Any suggestion on where to get the repair parts I need...? Would it be better to send it out for repair...?
Please help !Are your very good at precision soldering? Do you have the tools? First you may WANT to get the HP service MANUAL, if you can.
Or by an broken laptop liken yours and practice on it. No, not a joke. I will assume you are an experienced tech and are up to the challenge. On eBay you can get broken HP Pavillion Laptops for under $100. Some may have working screens. You can tear into one and find how the LCD is wired to the ma inboard. Of course, if you time is money, you are going to lose a lot of overtime you could have had at your job.I had a similar issue with a Dell laptop and found a dead same make/model on ebay with a good display and swapped displays. Cost to me was just $40 and it was a damaged ribbon cable in the hinge area on the left side when facing the laptop screen. Sending it out for repair will likely cost more than the laptop is worth $200+ to get repaired with new oem parts and labor.
