Iwant to format my harddisk and reinstall windows xp.
I have Toshiba A10 laptop with 160g hard disk, 1 g Ram, cd/dvd drive and the restore disk (cd) of course.
Problem: restore disk is not RECOGNIZED by cd drive. when I insert the disk and restart, boot sequence goes to hard drive and boots from there
What I did:
1. checked if drive sees other cd s. Answer yes it does
2. checked bios boot sequence as well as toshiba console hardware set up
answer both is incd "rom/lan/floppy/hdd" order,
3. I cleaned the restore disk , did not work
4. I ordered another set of restore disk from Toshiba, did not work still not recognized
5. believe it or not I bought an external cd/dvd drive, in this case disk starts working, I get a WARNING screen says all data will be lost and asks me to click if I want to contininue, when I click it says computer will now reboot and it DOEST and goes back to the hard drive boot.

I don't know what to do , will somebady please advise.I believe, with Toshiba, you have to HOLD 0 (zero) key while booting to boot from CD.
