Solve : Retrieving file from another computer?

Answer»

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo laptop (running on XP, 2.0GHz processor), and the screen no longer works - when I switch it on, the power light comes on and I can hear it starting up but nothing APPEARS on the screen. I have also tried connecting it in to an external MONITOR but this doesn't work either. There are some files on the laptop that I need to get hold of and I was wondering if there is any way of connecting another computer up to it so I can retrieve these (the other machine is a Packard BELL Easynote, also running on XP, 1.3 GHz processor, 496Mb RAM). Also if you have any suggestions for other things I could try to make the screen come on that would be great.Grab one of these:

2.5" laptop to IDE converter...About 8 Bucks at any PC store.
This will allow you to hook up the laptop drive to any working DESKTOP machine to retrieve your data...Brilliant - thanks very much for that.No problem...and Welcome Aboard !
