Answer» Hello, I have a 2001 Dell Dimension 8200 (yes, I fell prey to the salesperson who was paid to push RDRAM). I have no lappy so I have no pressing need for a wireless router. I am just looking for suggestions on a WIRED router that doesn't need an IT pro to set up and works reliably. I did run a search on the forum here and didn't see any relevant posts. I have also been searching all over the INTERNET recently. There is plenty out there on wireless routers.... just not on wired routers.Any big name is fine. I've always used Linksys.I've got a wired Linksys that was EASY to set up and works fine. It's been a while SINCE I got it, but if I remember right the only set up was to pop in a CD and it did the rest. You don't even have to put in a cd. Just plug & play - that's the case with most routers. Most, if not all, wireless routers have wired connections, too.Wireless routers are usually wired/wireless combo routers. IOW, they nearly always have ports on back of the router for wired connections, along with the wireless capability. So, if you have any thoughts of needing wireless sometime down the road, you might as well get a wireless router; you can still use it as a wired router.Thanx fellas! That helps a LOT!
