Solve : S.M.A.R.T for hard disk?

Answer»

When press F2, saw "S.M.A.R.T for hard disk" with the options for
enable or disable.

Currently the pc is using one IDE ATA hard drive and does the above
mean that the pc can have a IDE ATA hard drive + a SATA hard drive?

Is so, it is possible to have xp home on the current ATA hard drive
and Linux on the SATA drive?

With both ATA and SATA hard drives would the pc work smoothly?

Thanks.

This is for MONITORING impending failures from the hard drive.

No relevance. If you have a SATA controller on the MOTHERBOARD or use a special SATA card you MIGHT be able to.

or just add a second IDE drive and Linux can RUN on that very happily. No need to look for a SATA solution specifically.

How about some specifics on the computer or motherboard make/model, processor, RAM, hard drive space, etc. for a better idea of Linuix and other possibilities?

With both ATA and SATA hard drives would the pc work smoothly?

Thanks.
