Solve : Safe gpu operating temp?? |
Answer» WOA! Thats HUGE for a sound card! If that was that big, then how big were video cards? My 4870 is about 10in longthe AWE32 was a 16-bit ISA card. Only reason I stopped using it was because it didn't work with XP.\\I have some ISA video cards that are about normal size for a video card. They don't need heatsinks or anything though.Quote from: computeruler on July 11, 2009, 11:58:05 AM100c??!!!???!!!??!!!It's better to keep it cooler, yes ... but realistically, even if the temperature shortens the lifespan of the card by half ... would you keep a graphics card for ten years? I know some people would, but out of the people buying performance graphics cards I think they'd be the minority. Extra fans and good airflow is still a good idea.Solution to that is a DUAL slot graphics cooler which exhausts the hot air from the graphics card out of the back of the case, or a slot fan to do the same thing.my 4870x2 idle around 46c I've seen it up to 95c under a load.Fan speed set at 70%,but will go up if it gets to warmQuote It's better to keep it cooler, yes ... but realistically, even if the temperature shortens the lifespan of the card by half ... would you keep a graphics card for ten years?
