Solve : SATA DVD Burner and IDE hard drive??

Answer»

Hi, Im Joe from the island of Crete in Greece. My computer spec states that it has a SATA HARD DRIVE but I bought a DVD burner last week and went to fit it and found that the hard drive is IDE. I have bought Sata data cables and power cables and powered the DVD burner okay but the computer will not recognise it. My Motherboard has 2 Serial ATA connectors which i have plugged the Sata data lead from the DVD burner into but the manual only mention connecting hard drives to these connectors!!!
Will I have to buy a new Sata hard drive or a new DVD burner to tie in with the IDE HD? Any thoughts please as I'm stuck!!! Have you went to the MANUFACTURERS site for your new DVD burner
and downloaded the SATA controllers needed for Windows XP?Try
the same IDEA with your motherboard manufacturer.DLoad and run Everest Home to FIND out what motherboard you have and post the results here....Hi...its joe again.....My motherboard is an Aopen AK86-L and I have visited the pioneer site for Sata controllers for my dvd drive and there are non and I have also gone to the aopen site and my motherboard is no longer listed there? Im still stuck!
Any help would be appreciatedHere Are Your DRIVERS for that MBoard...i suggest reading the downloadable manual to determine what order they need to be in. Chipset drivers go FIRST.

These are the SATA drivers you should use to get that SATA hard drive recognised.

NOTE: You need to make sure the drive jumpers on that SATA HDD are set to the 150G speed as this MBoard does not support the higher 300G speed. This is important as the board will not see the drive unless it is jumpered correctly.
