Solve : SATA DVD Installation?

Answer»

I bought a DVD RW, and am GOING to install it in my computer which already has a cd/dvd player. I noticed that it doesn't have any jumpers on the back. It's a Lite-On player. Does it matter SINCE its a SATA hookup? You'll need to find out if your MBoard has SATA connectors on board...most newer ones do.
If not you will need an add-on PCI/SATA CONTROLLER card.
After hooking it up it should be PICKED up by the BIOS automatically...SATA drives don't normally USE jumpers, so you can just plug it in and go. The only jumpers I've paid much attention to on sata drives is the 1.5gb limit on some hard drives. But I don't think that's a concern with optical drives. Thanks, its an evga 680i MB, and has an open SATA connections. I wanted to be sure. Thanks!!
