Answer» Hello,
So continuing on my dead computer, i'm finally trying to set up my hard drive in another machine to recover the DATA. And, of course, i'm having troubles with it.
Here's the situation. The data that i'm trying to get is on an SATA hdd, only i don't a computer that runs an SATA hdd. Infact, the computer it was in didn't run sata hdds. I have one of those ide to sata converters, though, and i wouldn't be surprised if that's what's causing the problem. So i PLUG it in, and it simply doesn't recognize the new hdd. I can still start up windows off the ide one, but it doesn't give any indication of seeing the new one.
Yes, it was also suggested to me to get an external case for it so i COULD easily get the information off. The only reason i'm not doing this is because after I've got the information off it i want to reformat it and use it as my internal hdd. So i would literally be spending the money on a case to just get the information off it when i know there's another way.
Any ideas? Just as i was typing this i thought about drivers for the converter, but when i originally set it up i think it automatically installed them and i'm not sure where i'd find them for it...
ThanksYour least painful solution would be to find someone with a newer machine that has a burner and take it there and hook it up to SATA port 2 or above and COPY and burn your info to CD/DVD.... Then format it.
I wouldn't suggest using adapters of any KIND if your data is important...
