Solve : SATA not recognized?

Answer»

Hello,

I've just installed new hardware on my pc case, new GIGABYTE mobo, amd 3200+ venice, and WD 10000rpm sata hard drive.

I can get into the bios, but the hard drive isn't recognized. I've disable raid in the bios, and tried installing winxp using the F6 to install drivers, but nothing happens. If I skip the driver install, I get a no hard drive detected message.

I've tried both the nvidia orange cable, and the red cable... tried both methods of power for the sata (sata power cable and legacy)

This is my first TIME trying to build a pc, so my WORDING might not be accurate, but I need help!!

Thanks for any ideas anyone can provide... i'm open to anything at this point. The HDD can not be used until you install Windows XP. By PRESSING F6, it will ask you to insert drivers for the SATA HDD. Do so.

If you do not have any drivers, you will have to obtain them. Without drivers, no installation, no detection.check the jumper settings on all drives!try to open your bios i THINK it has a SATA config there maybe it is disabled.....
