Solve : scanner question, not sure where this goes...?

Answer»

I have an Epson 3000 scanner. My gray scale scans have a blue cast. I have tried everything. I can not get rid of this in Photoshop elements after scanning. I use scans to SELL. This is a big PROBLEM. Black And White scans ALWAYS look horrible with every scanner I have ever had. That is not an option.

You don't convert the scanned images to grey scale? ("Grey" is not a mistake; it is how we spell it in England.) Most scanner lamps have a slightly blue cast and even colour scans may need a little hue ADJUSTMENT but if you are intending the final product to be a grey scale image you may as well remove all the colours forever. I am guessing that by "black and white" you mean 2 bit mode?

The scanner has
Gray(grey) scale
color
black and white.
Black and white is a horrible, unusable image
Grey scale is fine with many scanners, not this one.
Blue is there even when i use the remove color command in Photoshop elements.
I need some way to get rid of the blue. i have tried everything. Some scans i can get OK. many I can not. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330588203386
One offending scanthere is no blue in that image. I suspect it might be a setting on your monitor.Quote from: blaumann on July 13, 2011, 01:44:35 PM

I loaded this into PaintShop Pro 9 and used the "count colors" tool. Just as my eyes told me, it is a 256 color (colour) grey scale image. As a very wise man said,

there is no blue in that image.

Check 1. your monitor color (colour) temperature /tint/ colour balance 2. Your eyesight?
