Answer» Hello,
I'm running an HP m8400f (Vista) upgraded to a NVIDIA 9800gtx GRAPHICS card. My screen is a 23" widescreen HP w2338h.
The BRIGHTNESS on my monitor has seemingly dimmed. I don't believe this to be a monitor problem however, as my cursor is still a very bright white and the HP monitor STATUS box that pops up when I restart the monitor is also uneffected. Everything else has tinted a bit. IE: When running Microsoft word, or opening Yahoo, Wikipedia, or Google, things that should be white appear grey -- yet oddly, the cursor is unchanged and still very bright white.
I'm dualboxing and there has always been a slight difference between the two monitors (on seperate computers); however, now its vastly different and hard on the eyes.
Any ideas anyone?Check the obvious first, connections on bad monitor, monitor cable, swap for a known good one, also make sure you didn't touch the contrast or brightness by accident.........then swap the monitor to eliminate that.Much to my surprise (mainly because the cursor and the monitor status window were bright). I think it may be the graphics card.
Bad monitor to opposite computer -- picture showing up fine. Bad monitor to opposite computer with DIFFERENT cord -- picture showing up fine.
So monitor is not bad... Cable is not bad...
That LEAVES graphics card...
Any advice besides reinstall drivers?Reseat the card.It worked; thanks for TAKING time out of your day to help me!Super...Way to go.
