Solve : SCSI and Tape Drives?

Answer»

Ok, well 1st, the site is great! Full of helpful people, although just joined today, be a READER for some time.

now my question. I have an Adaptec 39160 SCSI Card, and a Dell DLT7000 Tape DRIVE. I am trying to get the TWO to work. The drivers where loaded by default but I updated them with the newest one from Adaptec. I guess my question is where to start so that the PC will read the Drive.

Thanks for the HELP!Tape Drives can be quirky in nature...
I would visit the Dell Site and grab the drivers from there to start with...
Re-boot after installing them and remember to REMOVE the tape drive from Device Manager prior to trying this...Quote from: patio on April 08, 2009, 05:57:25 PM

I will try this, however, I dont see the Tape Drive in Device Manager. Also when I installed Backup Exec, it was supose to install drivers.OK, well, with the tape drive plugged in, the SCSI card says 'The Device can not start' if I unplug the drive and restart, things are fine....any ideas?Remove the card...clean the contacts and re-install both the card and it's drivers leaving the tape drive out of the loop.
Power down...re-install the tape drive and reboot.
Re-install the tape drive software...power down and re-boot.
If this doesn't solve it i suspect the card has failed...
