Answer» I need to open up the case of a Seagate 1tb external hard drive to ACCESS the drives that were damaged when SOMEONE plugged in the wrong power supply. The person has a new one but really needs the data off this one, does anyone know how to open up the case? Can't GIVE you info on opening the case but This us the BEST method to retrieve your data...These Seagates are not designed to be user-opened. The case is glued and you will need to DESTROY it. Anyhow, if the electronics are damaged by incorrect voltage or polarity you will probably find a dead drive in there. Salman trout is right, but i'd just smack it with a hammer.
