Solve : Search Engine Optimization?

Answer»

Why after having a web site for five years and over 25000 hits can you not type the address in a search box and bring it up? If you type in the words associated with the web site it is on top in search results?

JohnI will assume you mean a site that is now out of service.
I had some sites I closed down, but a swatch engine may find some material still in the chge of the search company computers.
Does that sound like what you mean?

Because you're meant to to type the address in the address box. Search engines such as Google index page contents, not page addresses.

May be it is to small if you type in a search box  www.ebay.com or www.amazon.com it will bring those up.Yes, do not try to locate a site by the IPv4 numbers. Use of the domain name is REQUIRED. Only some servers will respond using the four dotted decimals.

I think you missed the point, my old chum. He is asking "why can't I type my site's address as a search term into a search engine and have it come in the FIRST 5 results, like I can if I search using words associated with the web site?"

(I wonder if his site is about *SPAM*?)
You are right. He got me confused.
How high you stand  in a search engine depends on a lot of things. Advertised sites get top ratings. In some areas. If you are in Miami, and you look for taxi companies, you will get the ones in Miami , not  New York.

Yeah, maybe he is a spam pusher. If you want to be top dog in a search, go talk to Google and offer them money. Works for me. No, not my blog, butrout family business site GETS close to the top in the city where we do business. The price is less than  using the local NEWSPAPER.
