Answer» MB is chaintech Mk8t890, AMD Athlon 64 3000 @2Ghz, 512 mb ram. Windows xp Pro v2002 sp3. Phoenix bios, integrated perif--on chip sata enabled, sata mode --ide. New hard drive is 2Tb WD20EARSSP. Any ideas on getting my bios to recognize? thanks,, joeHave you enabled the SATA port where the device is plugged into? truenorththanks truenorth--answer would be not that I know of--can you tell me a little more about how I might?Bad cable, bad connection, bad drive. You need to enter your BIOS and usually i BELIEVE your SATA ports will listed under "advanced" and however many you have (SATA ports i mean) will be listed there. Determine which ONE your new sata drive is connected to (if your lucky and your already existing HDD is also a Sata and you only have 2 then it will be the other one). They are numbered from 0-X (X being the number you have on the MOBO) So if you have 4 ports they will be from 0-3. If in doubt enable them all and the only result at boot will be that any not occupied will denote no SATA drive found for those not occupied. On a Dell that i did this on there were only 2 AVAILABLE and they were numbered on the MOBO. Hope this HELPS. truenorththanks for the help--I think I have an antique mobo with no support and no way to upgrade bios--going to cut my losses and clone this one to a smaller sata drive on another machine--thanks again--joeWhat size was the old hard drive? |
