Answer» useing 'Front Page' 2002 free host = Netfirms. I found a site that allows you to download short music loops in wav/mp3/flash format http://www.flashkit.com/loops/Easy_Listening/Classical/_A_Kn-Edgen-6842/index.php
I save them in 'wav', .. then I insert them into my perdonal web, but when I save it to the page it comes up 'Server Error'. What does this mean, bearing in mind the music works in the BROWSER i.e. at least it works on my pc.
Thanks in advance.. Tally
ps. wonder if the wav file works on other puters.? will GIVE url if neededFirst point: FrontPage? Yuck. Try NVu.
Second point: where are you saving these wav files to? Have you uploaded them to your host? How are you inserting them? What HTML code are you using? If you're unsure, post a link to the page you've created.well rob.. i'm used to f/page for a start.. I save the music file as wav.. and put it in my web folder,.. then insert a b/g sound.. I think 'Embed' tag. as far as uploading to host goes.. I thought the host would either accept or not automatically..??Presumably the "web folder" is something provided by FrontPage to disguise the fact that it is creating an FTP or WebDAV transfer? You would get more meaningful error messages using a real FTP client like FTPSurfer. Unfortunately it's difficult to guess at what FrontPage means by "server error", if that's where you're seeing the error message. Possibly the WAV file is too large and exceeds your storage/upload allocation with your host?
My dislike of FrontPage is purely web developer snobbery I'm afraid. If it works for you that's fine. It just produces horrendous code that makes it hard to work with using anything other than FrontPage.
PS Links to all the free software I refer to are in the software FAQ - see my signature.thanks for that rob,.. was the alignment ok.. ?Sorry, I don't know what you mean.I meant in general,. the alignment of text links images (uniform) etc !! only I tried it on my pals lap-top.. and it was different than my pc screen.. I ALWAYS 'Center' the alignment,.. or do you recomend default settings ?
ty .. Tally Hmm... That's a dangerous question to ask! My advice is to look at some other websites - good quality websites - and see how they arrange pages and content. Then emulate one you like the most. In practice, websites where the text is all centred, are going to look rather untidy. An alternative is to use a DIV ELEMENT, set its size, place all your text in that (left aligned or justified) and centre that. Try resizing your browser window, and see how your site looks at different sizes (remember people will have different screen resolutions).
Click on my signature logo to see how I have laid out my website. It's by no means an excellent site, but I think it's tidy.thanks for that rob,.. yes yours is very tidy
