Solve : set top box?

Answer»

have a humax foxsat-hdr and i have a tp-link plugged into it in the living room and in the computer room one is plugged into the belkin router,i can get bbc i player and itv1 player and an arts service so i must be onto the internet are these the only things i can get onto and if no what do i do?No idea what you're asking.I can translate (the OP is clearly British) He has a Humax-HDR which is a combination satellite TV receiver and PVR sold in the UK. It works on a service called FreeSat. (Brits tend to call anything like that a "set TOP box"). He has connected it to his internet-connected router using TPlink brand "home plugs" which is a way of carrying a home network over the AC house wiring. He is aware that the HDR can get BBC iPlayer (a web based catch up TV service) and iTV Player (similar) and ANOTHER one, and he wishes to know if he can get any other web based streaming services.

earlook, a quick Google search told me that on the Humax HDR the iPlayer, iTV player etc are coming to you down from the satellite on channels 901 onwards and what you can get depends on whether the provider has made a deal with Humax and Freesat to do these services. I don't think the network connection is there to let you get on the web and use apps like some recent smart TVs and media players.

Having said that, this American forum is mainly for computer issues and you might get some more detailed advice from a UK based home ENTERTAINMENT forum, AVforums is very good and UK based. In fact there are lots of Freesat forums, some with Humax sections. Google is your friend. Try typing this: "humax foxsat hdr internet apps" (without the quotes).

A little bit of advice... if you are ABLE to, try writing a bit more clearly and try using capital letters and full stops every now and then as some of the people on those forums can get a bit impatient and flame you or else just ignore you.
Thanks ST thanks a lot.
