Solve : Sim Card back up? |
|
Answer» Hello everyone, Oh, you're probably correct; it's probably a microSd card. Are they smaller than the SIM cards? BTW, thanks for replyingYes. About the SIZE of a fingernail. Quote from: MarleneD on September 02, 2009, 03:20:56 PM I just called At&T and they called it a SIM card.SIM Cards and microSD cards are 2 different cards, all phones have a SIM card, most (but not all) phones have a microSD card. As far as I know, the SIM card can only be backed-up with software provided by the manufacturer of the cell phone, i.e., if you have a Motorola phone, you need the Motorola software. microSD cards are a smaller version of the SD card now used in most digital cameras. They are flash drives used in the same manner as USB flash drives. In a cell phone they are used for extra storage for photos, etc.Actually, not all phones have a SIM card. Most GSM phones have a SIM card but for the other types it's hit and miss.I know the technology is changing fast, thanks for the info. Is it true that some phones have only a microSD card and no SIM card?depends. If the phone works with AT&T or T-Mobile, it uses a sim card. Verizon and Sprint use a different system, so their exclusive phones phones don't use a sim cardThanks all so much for the information. I just posted on a CNET forum for cell phones, and someone directed me to a Sony cell phone link which has down loadable software for your computer. Apparently, all I have to do is download the software and then I can download my address book from my cell. I'm not sure how to do that yet (where the connection is, type of cable, etc.) but, I will investigate. Thanks again to all I used to have a Motorola phone and that's exactly what it did. You connect the phone to the computer via USB and communicate with it. A lot EASIER to edit the address book this way. |
