i have just installed a seconed hard drive on my COMPUTER for video capturing and the program i use is saying that it is not fast enough even though it is. ive figured out part of the problem is that it is running through my main hard drive and that is slowing it down can someone tell me plz how i can make it so it doesnt run through my main by either connecting it some how past the main or by going into the system and fixing it.

PLZ helpHow about some information.  Speed and memory configuration of the machine, O/S in use, how the SECOND drive was installed, etc.  For 2K or XP, you can check Device Manager and see if the IDE channel in question is running in UDMA mode.  If not, that's the basic problem, we'll need to address that.

Set your hard drives as primary master with slave, and primary slave, and you should get maximum speed out of both drives on a 80-line 40-pin UDMA cable set. Also make sure they are both set to DMA mode in Device Manager.Actually, with any reasonably modern ATAPI CD, that's not true.  The only issue is during the actual transfer of DATA from a specific device.  I have a machine with an ATAPI CD-RW drive that runs UDMA-2 and a MAXTOR hard disk that runs UDMA-6 on the same channel.
