Solve : Sli bridging and installing new os?

Answer»

No, not starting with clean hard drive. There is a 32-bit modded version of vista on here right now....Quote from: msglobe81 on December 25, 2008, 03:37:03 AM

ok, this is evga. i go to the website though and i cant find the motherboard. it only comes up with geforce BOARDS. This is an nforce 780i sli board... God im confused...

Well, check the manual to see if there's any where special they want you to go. For some reason I can't access the eVGA website at the moment.

And you want to get rid of that, right? I assume the hard drive is already used so we might as well diagnose it first.

Get diagnostic software from the hard drive manufacturer's webpage. Most of the time, this will also allow you to write zeroes to the hard drive. Effectively reformatting it..ok, this thing is designed by nvidia and distributed by evga.... I can find it on the nvidia site but not on the evga. There is nothing on either site about a bios UPDATE...ok, found a bios update for this thing. it comes in the form of a program. I downloaded it and installed it. It askes me to clear the CMOS which i did but it wont let me do anything after this. There is now a file on my desktop called bios.bin now though. What do you think i should do from here?
the only thing it tells me to do is to boot from vista disk and format that way... gives no other option

Dude, you're not paying attention.

I said "Copy the fix list or search for fixes in the release list that are related to your problems"

Never once did I say "Go ahead and flash your BIOS". And do you know why? Because if you start messing around with flashing BIOS without knowing what you're doing, you'll soon be the proud owner of a useless paperweight.

Either stop what you're doing or FOLLOW the procedure to the very letter, whatever option the 'program' gives you. I hope that 'clearing the CMOS' just meant 'resetting' it .... If not ,well I guess we'll find out after the next reset.

Ok, get the diagnostic software and diagnose the HDD.

You never let me know if

A) Everything is mounted properly
B) You found those 64 bit drifvers
C) What exactly was in the fix list for your BIOS
D) If the memtest was succesful in diagnosing all of your RAM.

I'm going to be disconnected from the internet for a few hours, get an answer to these questions and read back on our previous posts to see if you forgot to do anything that needs doing.

everything is mounted
got 64 bit drivers
memtest was successful
cannot find any fix list for this bios. I really cant figure out where it is. the motherboard is through nvidia and that is where I found the drivers but there is no fix list for the bios. Not that I can find anyway.
I am ASSUMING it did just reset it. I have restarted several times and it is starting back up like it always did... Still gives me the blue screen when I try to boot from vista CD.... I am going to pass out myself for a few hours. Gotta get up and do family stuff soon.... Need sleep. Thanks for all the help. i really appreciate it and hope to get this fixed soon... thanks againSo does it show you a blue screen when you load the drivers to get started with the reformatting process or at another stage? So I got it working. I took out the 2g of ram I installed and the OS installed fine after that. Does that mean something is wrong with the ram? I reinstalled it after getting the OS on the computer and it recognizes it perfectly fine and the computer seems to be running fine....
Well, you diagnosed the RAM with memtest86 which was able to see all of the RAM, correct?
