Solve : Slipstreaming XP home?

Answer»

i have misplaced my compaq recovery disks from compaq and was wondering if i can make a new one with the service pack 2 slipstreamed in? or, do i need to contact HP and see if they will send me replacement ones. i wont buy them though. the dang thing cost me too much anyway. it is a compaq presario 2100us. i would appreciate any links or instruction on how to back up my WINDOWS with that built in. also, is there a way to make a vista premium DISK from my new toshiba laptop with all the updates and leave out te garbage that toshiba installs on it. i tried to get rid of all the BS that came on this thing but in the END, my computer didnt see the cd rom and i couldnt use it. i even tried system restore all the way back to the beginning and it still didnt see it. thanks a million for the help and feel free to email me at [emailprotected]

Have you CONTACTED Compaq yet? Usually, companies like HP/Compaq, gateway, dell, etc will send you replacement disks... sometimes at a small fee, but better than being DEAD in the water.

Also, some of these companies actually put the "recovery disk" as a partition on the drive instead of as a cd...
