Solve : Slow start up? |

Answer» So heres the DEAL. I just bought a new AMD 64x2 4800+ processor for my computer. I installed it in and everything was fine. I loaded a fresh copy of WINDOWS XP on my hard drive loaded all the drivers, basically did everything I thought I was supposed to do. Well now I have a weird problem where, every time I start or restart my computer, it stays on the first screen where you can press delete to get into bios or f9 for xpress recovery. Anyways It stays there for like 2 or 3 minutes before any of the hardware is recognized. Once it finally recognizes it, windows starts up and everything runs fine. I was just wondering if any of you could shed some light on why it is doing this and how I could fix this. Make sure both the BIOS setup and Windows reports the correct processor. If either does not, let us know. Press Del to enter the BIOS and to view Device Manager in Windows, right-click My Computer, select Properties, select the Hardware tab and click Device Manager. The Bios and windows both REPORT the correct processor, but In windows it shows the processor twice. Im thinking that is just because it is a dual core processor though. Also It is the correct ram for the motherboard because I have had this computer for about a year, and it has never done that before. I should also mention that it still does this after reformatting everything, so I am really stumped on this. PLEASE HELP ME... lolDoes the BIOS report the correct time? The BIOS battery might need to be replaced. If it is dead, the date and time in the BIOS Setup will be incorrect, and the BIOS will have to re-detect all the hardware each time you power up the computer. |
