Solve : So I think my computer just died...?

Answer»

Ok, so here is the situation.  I have a Dell dimension PC that is just over 3 years old now, so pretty old in computer years.  Anyways, its been kinda buggy lately but for the most part has run pretty smoothly, but now it has stopped functioning completely.  When I try to power it up, the power LIGHT turns an orange color.  Normal functioning would cause it to be lit green instead.  The power supply fan comes on, and there is a green light on my motherboard, so I don't think it is the power supply that went out, but the fan that would cool the CPU does not turn on and nothing else on the computer does anything.  Sometimes, the power light will turn green for about 1 second before turning orange when I power up the computer.  I've reset my ram, checked the connections, ECT.  Could this STILL be a faulty power supply or did my processor perhaps get fried?  FYI, it is no longer on WARRENTY so I don't want to run out buying a new component if that won't END up fixing it.can you explain what happened as in buggy?Yeah, sorry for not being too specific before.  Basically it would just freeze up and not do anything.  Usually it would happen after exiting an application.  I have a biometric fingerprint reader on my computer, and the light on that would also power off when this happened, which at first made me think it was just power supply, but as my power supply does turn on and the fan is on also, then maybe it was a motherboard problem or even a processor problem.which light is turning yellow? sounds like your describing the monitor LED...I had a pretty similar problem, in fact I made a topic on it.  I had a repair guy come over and use his PSU and it actually loaded up more than normal.  So you might wanna try a new PSU before you go and spend a lot of money replacing the mobo and such.
