Solve : Socket 370 Processors??

Answer»

Are there any processors that work for the 370 socket?

Please and thanks.Google shows a bunch of them...Socket 370 covers a lot of cpu's what is your present
one your using?

You have PPGA, FC-PGA, and FC-PGA2.

Give us some INFORMATION on what your doing.

If you PRESENTLY have a CPU it should have an
sSpecs Number on it.

See the below picture as an example. SL4PC

Ok,its a socket 7,im sure of it(hopefully)

I think the metal part thats blocking the processor chip thingy is the
heatsink?Quote from: CompBoy09 on June 07, 2007, 09:26:45 PM

Yep.Ok then,I was just now RECENTLY watching a video on what happens to a processor without a heatsink(while the powers on) ,they showed the one I have and the chip melted!Ouch!

I plan on buying a Pentium ll 300+ MHz processor.Am I suppose to remove the whole heatsink and processor together?

No,you remove the heatsink then the processor/CPU.

The CPU should line up in place and be locked down by a slim
locking lever.

Read the below site.

http://www.ehow.com/how_12209_install-socket-7.htmlMuch thanks!ok,sorry for double posting but.

I have a gateway e1600 (I think a SMALL form factor computer?)

I got removing and installing a processor out of the way.the only thing
is finding a processor thats compatible with my computer/motherboard.

any suggestions?

P.S. What graphic card is good for an e1600?8-32MB Cards anyway!

Please and thanks!According to the SPECS of your m-board 66,100,and133mhz
cpus work so,without a risk you should be able to get a
SL4C8 (Intel Pentium III) 1 GHZ.When you buy the Cpu
get it with heatsink and fan.

A 32 mb graphics card should be all you need.I did not
see if you needed standard ,or low profile card.
PCI/or AGP. Mkae sure you get the right one someone will
post it.I must now leave for work.....Bwahahaha!Quote from: CompBoy09 on June 07, 2007, 09:42:28 PM

A Pentium II is a Slot 1 Processor which will not fit in a socket 370 or a SOcket 7 slot.

Are you sure you are up to this?Quote from: GX1_Man on June 09, 2007, 08:27:23 AM

This has kinda went around in a circle hasn't it?If you really have this Gateway E-1600 you interjected into
this nicrosity.....See reply#8.....Go to the below link and read
the manual.

Then come back and ask a question about it.

Are you sure?Remember I said I have a socket 7,so I dont want to make any mistakes
when buying a processor. Also any pentium lll listed only has socket 370 and Slot 1.Also,

AMD K6 and K6-2 uses socket 7,is this true?I truly can't teach you what I have learned upgrading computers
in 1 post.

Did you read the Gateway E-1600 Manual?
