Solve : sony vaio laptop upgrade help?

This is the specification of my laptop:

SONY VAIO VGN-B100GP
Intel ® Pentium ® M
Processor:1.70 GHz
208 MHZ, 504 MB of RAM
Model: VGN-B100GP

The harddisk capacity is 40GB (fujitsu) MHV2040AT

I'd like now to UPGRADE my memory to the maximum of 1.5GB and a harddisk of 160GB. For the 160GB, I'm not sure if it WOULD be ok. Can any of you recommend, what the best thing for me to do.

ALSO, does BRAND of memory or harddisk matter also?
