Solve : sony viao? |
|
Answer» hey im buying a new laptop but i know nothing about computers, i have my heart set on a sony viao (see i don't even know if i spelt that correctly), does any one know if they are worth the money and how much i should expect to pay for one My daughter has a Toshiba Sattelite Pro. It lastest 8 months before hardware failure. I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 440CDX. It's lasted 16 years so far without hardware failure. Although I have lost a few screws. And my newer Satellite L300 (although it's not a "pro", and really I'd like to know what makes one computer "pro" and another not...) has lasted almost 3 years. That's my personal experience. Truthfully, I don't think it makes a *censored* bit of difference which brand you go with; you're not choosing any particular TYPE of hardware, you're just choosing a logo that will be on the machine and a support company. The manufacturers are totally different, and sometimes different Toshiba models, or Acer models, or what have you could have been manufacturered by the different companies. In the same vein, a certain model of Toshiba laptop could be the exact same thing as a Acer or Sony laptop, with a different case and of course different logo and BIOS boot image.Quote from: BC_Programmer on December 10, 2010, 12:50:58 AM Reminds of the one time I had enough cash to buy band new car. Several years ago. Went to my local Dodge dealer and found a sharp little Dodge van and took it home. Some proud of myself to not have another clunker German car. Open the hood and find it was made in Japan! I have a Sony VAIO desktop (i know it is not a laptop) and some of the issues may be the same. generally speaking they tend to be more expensive than others of BASICALLY the same performance standards. So cost wise you can probably do better. Also with the desktop there have been some software compatibility issues (ACKNOWLEDGED by the software manufacturer) unique to the Vaio. Also the Vaio (may be similar with all Sony computer products) tend to be restrictive to certain hardware installations from the size or placement limitations.Somewhat as i have found on HP computers as well. If you are prepared to spend that amount of money on a laptop before you make your decision have a look at the new Apple laptops. I think as well as your "brand" concerns i think you will be best served by defining your known and anticipated needs for the laptop and emphasize your choice from that criteria. truenorth |
