Solve : Sound and webcam won't work, hasn't since I had to do a complete format.?

Answer»

I had to do a complete format on my laptop because every time I'd bump a BUTTON on my quick launch bar... mainly the volume, my computer would FREEZE up and I couldn't even get it to restart. I had to use the power button to turn off the stupid thing. I tried system restore, and recovery and it still didn't do dittly squat, matter of fact it just made matters worse. So I finally just formatted the sucker, well after I did that I had found out that the copy of windows xp that should have came with the laptop, didn't... it was a private seller that the laptop was acquired from. And the butthead failed to give my boyfriend the software that went with it. Including any recovery discs or windows XP. So I had to get a bootleg copy of windows xp pro. This thing is supposed to be running home. But ever since I did the format my webcam that's built into the laptop and the sound card hasn't been working. The only sound I hear out of this thing is a beep if I get a system message. As for the webcam, well the lil' light will show it's trying to work, I installed all the DRIVERS but it just don't wanna do it. I'm about to pull my hair out, I went to the hp website and downloaded all the drivers for everything on the laptop and those things still don't want to work. Just in case anyone's wondering it's a Hp Pavilion dv2000, dv2020us. Please someone help!!!!!!First things first...you may want to obtain a legitimate retail version of your OS and not a "bootleg version".

Another option would be to contact the manufacturer for recovery software...this usually includes the OPERATING system, drivers and any other applications that were on the computer when it was initially purchased.

You will find that obtaining the recovery software from this manufacturer is much cheaper than BUYING the OS in a retail store.
