hello i would please like some information on my sound card. the onboard sound quit on my computer so i purchased a creative sb live 5.1 sound card, installed it with updated drivers and disabled onboard sound in the bios. i received a sound card error when trying useing it. some one said that the card was BROKE so i purchased a cmedia card, and then the same thing a sound card error. the motherboard is a biostar the bios is AWARD. the computer is a amd athlon 1.25ghz. 352 mb ram. there is no option to SET the playback device in the sound options in the control panel and the computer did install the card and it is available in the device manager.

Try booting into Safe MODE / GO to Device Manager / remove any sound devices / reboot

Alan <>< You should have removed the previous sound drivers before installing the new card. I suggest the following:

• Remove new soundcard drivers
• Remove new soundcard
• Re-active onboard soundcard
• Delete its drivers from the device manager and/or add/remove software menu
• Disable onboard soundcard
• Delete any remaining soundcard drivers still installed
• Insert new soundcard
• Install the latest drivers for your soundcard
