Solve : Sound card not being recognized?

Answer»

Just installed Vista. It recognized the sound card right off the bat. No problem. I updated to SP1. Sound card is gone, no drivers no nothing just DISAPPEARED. It searched for the drivers online, found them, then said the INF file was screwed up. The sound card is a USB external, Creative Labs Sound Blaster Extigy. Thanks.Do a fresh DLoad...Patio beat me to it.  Try downloading again, and if it doesn't work, you might CONTACT Creative Labs to explain the problem with the driver and Vista SP1.

Shut down the computer...

Disconnect external sound card...

Turn on the computer...

After finished booting...PLUG in external sound card...and see if it is recognized.I actually cannot find any drivers for the Extigy on the CL site...Start here."A service installation section of this INF is invalid." is the error I am getting.Saviour, I followed some of the links in there and it said there is "No Development Planned". The only thing that I can't figure out is that it worked before I updated to SP1 and now it isn't working all of a sudden. I think it does work with Vista, but for some reason it's just GIVING me a problem...Based on the information you have given us...there is no driver for this piece of hardware that is compatible with your operating system.

Look here.

You'll see no Vista driver available.

So...what it all BOILS down to is that you're trying to use a piece of hardware which is not compatible with your operating system. You can try to rollback the driver from Device Manager...but, I'm not sure this will work...given the findings at Creative Labs.Fortunately a new Sound Card that is optimised for Vista won't set you back that much...
