Answer» Bump for hope.Which USB ports...front or back of the machine ? ? Which USB ports...front or back of the machine ? ?I tried using the front ports instead of the back ports, and the same thing happened. Any other ideas? It just happened right now with no USB devices plugged in. I had a USB DRIVE plugged in earlier, but it was long disconnected when my sound just failed. If anyone can shed any light on how I can fix this, I'd really appreciate it.here is the SOLUTION...ditch the soundcard. i had it, its a piece of junk. mine lasted about a month. Quote from: homer on November 25, 2007, 06:36:07 PM here is the solution...ditch the soundcard. i had it, its a piece of junk. mine lasted about a month. Is it really a sound CARD problem though? I do lose sound, but I'm not sure why I would only be able to stream the first TWO seconds of a streaming video (ie. YouTube) before it stops.anything is better then the soundmax card. you can buy just a cheap sound blaster audigy for $32.00CAD or an X-Fi (recommended) for just $50.00CAD. i am not 100% sure that this problem is caused by the soundmax card, but i have heard of many different people having many different problems and the card is the root of it.Replacing the sound card is definitely worth a try. When I upgraded my computer from 98 to XP I found my sound would cut out randomly in games and so forth. Turns out that my AWE32 was just not friendly enough to XP. And I never tried to do anything on UTube since at this point I didn't have the net, so I cannot confirm any video-type problems. |
