Solve : Sound is jumpy when I play dvd's?

Answer»

I have a HP Pavillion dv8000, windows XP, service pack 3, 1.73GHz, 1 GB RAM.
The DVDCD ROM Drive is a TSST Corp TS-L532M.
It always worked fine, but now when I try to play a DVD the sound is jumpy, the picture is fine though. Any music I play from the hard drive SOUNDS fine. Even If I rip the DVD and play it from the hard drive it sounds fine. I tried setting the sound to analog, that didn't work. I installed NERO 9, maybe that did something? What player do you use?HP Media Center.Try VLC Player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/, and see, if same thing happens.Ok, Ill do that and post what happens. We'll be here I downloaded and installed the player and the same thing happens. DVD drive lens may be dirty. Try lens cleaner. That didn't work either maybe some thing wrong with codecs?
try full packsWhere do I get full packs?I doubt this is codecs problem, because VLC has all codecs BUILT in. That's why, I asked you to try it.
Besides, the MOVIES play fine, when played from HD.
You said something about Nero. Are you saying, that the sound was fine, before you installed it?
You may simply have DVD drive problem.
Just for a heck of it. Try to play some MOVIE in Safe Mode, using VLC.erocktattoo,While it may seem obvious it has not been stated so i will. Uninstall the Nero suite (from add/remove programs) and then try your DVD and tell us what happens.Do not reinstall Nero until after you have reported back.truenorthI uninstalled nero and its still jumpy. Could it be service pack 3 causing the problem?Did you try VLC in Safe Mode?
