I have no clue where this should be posted, but I'll give this place a WHACK.  I have a computer that I am working on. Sound card has been replaced. I get sound with everything, except yahoo messenger. If I go into a chat room with sound or try to turn sound on while instant messaging or conferencing, it locks this computer up. I can play GAMES, listen to cd's and listen to anything on media player or real player and the sound is fine. Any ideas. I have uninstalled and reinstalled messenger about 15 times and this offered no help either. Windows xp is the o/s.How much RAM do you have? Have you tried running a Windows Update by going to http://www.microsoft.com ?

[glb]Flame[/glb]There is 512 of Ram and all windows updates have been done. This only happens using Yahoo messenger when voice is activated in either instant messages or voice chat in the room. I've checked everything I know to check as far as settings and nothing is muted ANYWHERE. I get sound with everything else. This has me just totally baffled. I have never come across anything like it. I've said more than one or two bad words trying to figure this out.
