Solve : Sound on and off?

Answer» Hello I am using dial in telephone for my internet. Some times I FOUND that the sound was turned off for some reason and I had to re boot the computer to get the sound back. WHen I dial the internet provider there is always the dialing sound but sometimes I don't hear it.. Any explanation why the sound system is on and off. I am using an ipod on ITUNES. THanksMore DETAILS on the hardware, the MODEM and the operating system and service pack would be helpful. Does the sound work fine until the modem is USED after a clean boot?
