Solve : Sound Problems New Mother Board?

Answer»

I Installed a new motherboard and cpu (can be found in specs) after installing new hardware i have had a hum coming from my speakers. Any ideas on why it is doing this now, or recomendations on how to correct problem? I have installed the newest DRIVERS for it as well.

Thanks Bunafireman825Sounds like the MBoard is shorting out to the case...did you use MBoard standoffs in assembling ? ?The old Motherboard did not have those on it so i did not use them on this one, but it looks like if i did use them it would pick the mb up to high and the pci slots, usb,(etc would not line up in my case. They need to be used...you risk frying your board. The case that i have has rasied areas unders where the screws thourgh the motherboard go. What i found when i pulled the mb out was a couple of standoffs that were not in place for screw for the new or old mb. My question is with the raised areas already there does it still require standoffs?

Even after removing the other standoffs the hum is still there.

Thanks Bunafireman825For the raised humps you should use small rubber or felt washers...all other mounts should have standoffs...

Onboard or sound card ? ?onboard sound i dont have any washers on there so i will try that. The board does need to ground to case dosnt it? Or does the screws take care of that?

Thanks Bunafireman825

Are you using a FRONT panel audio connector? Try temporarily removing the plug and placing jumpers over the 2 mentioned in the motherboard manual.

Some case front connectors are of POOR quality...and cause all types of trouble.

Otherwise, ensure the plug is in firmly, securely. does the same buzz occur if you rest your finger on the SPEAKER connection plug contacts?Quote from: bunafireman825 on December 17, 2009, 07:22:31 PM

The hold down screw takes care of the ground...installed Teflon washers humming increased, checking into jumper in my manual.

Unplugged front connector humming still there, couldn't find ne thing in manual bout jumpers. i don't know if it matters but i forgot to mention that the speakers are powered through usb.Yes that info would have been helpful...did they come with an AC ADAPTER ? ?
If so try it with that.No they did not, there a cheap set of wal-mart speakers.Have you tried the speakers on a different computer?Quote from: rthompson80819 on December 19, 2009, 01:12:29 PM
