I need a sound card but I can't find one because my computer was a millienum when I got it but I upgraded to XP prof and I wanted to know what do I go by as getting one ThanksSound cards fit into PCI slots...chances are you have a few of these...the OS doesn't matter as they write drivers for each one.

Post some more info on that machine and someone will be along shortly...tryingtolearn, why do you think you a sound card just because you upgraded your OS from Win ME to Win XP?  That does not make sense?  Did your sound stop after the OS upgrade?Well, my sound stop and I just can't figure it out I have deleted it and let it reinstalled so I was going to get a sound card I can hear my computer beep if I make a mistake but its not coming from my speakers also I ran a directx test and my MIDI will play but not my sound playback I get a message about .wav file Quote

Did you recieve any original CD's with that machine that might have the sound card drivers on them ? ?

I been updated my OS but my sound started messing up about a month ago I do have the original cd for the drive but its not doing any good THATS why I installed a new card but it is still doing the same thing I have done an installation repair but it didn't help I was trying to avoid doing a whole new repair because I lost my disc for microsoft office which I'm gonna have to replace but I guess I will try that to see will any thing change

You're correct...i don't understand....It sounds LIKE this person has resolved their own difficulty, Dr. Patio.  Thank Heavens i didn't have to pull out the tooth...
