Solve : Sound vanishes upon rebooting?

Answer»

Recently I HELPED my friend reinstall XP on his computer and get everything up and running. The last problem I can't seem to fix is with the SOUND. Everytime we install the drivers for his onboard soundcard the computer reboots and sound works properly for him with no problems. If he reboots after that though, the drivers vanish and we have to reinstall them all over again. Is there something I'm missing somewhere where you can turn off the restoral of old drivers or setting upon a REBOOT?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Please click on Start, Click on Run, type the following and press Enter key.

services.msc

Please double click on Windows AUDIO

Please set start-up type to "Automatic"

Please click on Start button if the service is STOPPED

Please click on Apply then on OK.

Please close services Window now.

Please click on Cancel. Now right click on Windows Audio and click on Restart service.
