Answer» Hi all, I'm in the process of reformatting my machine, though now that i have reinstalled windows xp my soundcard inputs seem to be playing up. the line out doesn't appear to work and the speakers will only work when plugged into the MICROPHONE socket, i'm a little baffled, and i don't know how to get to the soundcard configuration to configure the inputs properly. I'm using an onboard Realtek Ac97, with the appropriate drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanx. NickladAnd you ar epositive you have the correct drivers? WHat make/model of motherboard is this?
Try deleting all the references to sound in Device Manager and reboot. What HAPPENS?hiya, done that, but still the same, I'm a bit confused really. Is there any WAY to get to a soundcard configuration MENU, where you might be able to change the configuration of the input SOCKETS? I've tried entering the setup area on a restart but there's no options to configure the inputs, any ideas? Cheers, NickladWhat do you see in Multimedia settings in control panel? Any help there?Quote ... the speakers will only work when plugged into the microphone socket, ... That makes no sense whatsoever. Mic is input, speaker is output. I think you need to take a very close look at your connectors and how they are labeled. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you have your speakers connected to the right connector? Cheers, Nicklad Without a soldering iron this is not possible even then the results would not be satisfactory.
