Could you please open up the device manger ...... hardware tab ........ and go down to the Sound , Video and game controller ........ expand that section and take a screen shot of it and post it here to look at . dl65 POSSIBLE resource CONFLICT with the modem. If it is a modem expansion card, try removing it, turning on the computer, and reinstalling the LATEST AUDIO drivers for the on-board sound chip from the Web site of the motherboard manufacturer. If the sound works fine, try turning off the computer and adding the modem expansion card. If the sound problem returns, a resource conflict is the cause. When plug and play doesn't work, the only thing you can do is manually CHANGE the IRQs and other resources in Device Manager to resolve the conflict. An easier solution might be to install an inexpensive sound card. Doc
