Answer» I'm running Windows XP and the Firefox browser. My question is
I've taken Broadband recently. As at 1st i had prob in web browsing I formatted XP & then my net connection is OK.But my speakers went dead.Device drivers can't detect any speaker.Motherboard CD's audio driver could not also be installed. What may be the problem? What should I do?Ok 1st things 1st , i would roll back the driver and reinstall it again. 2nd go through all your sound options in control panel , also make sure that your sound system is enabled in BIOS , to get into your BIOS right click my computer and go to mange and then device manger and make sure that your soundcard is enabled as well as your speakers , and also be aware that your settings may have changed in windows media player so check that out as well. Please tell me in details what to do at 1st.I've tried audio installation many times but it failed.
1. right click my computer
2.click manage
3.computer managment will come up
4.click device manger
5.A list of all your devices will appearr SCROLL down to sound video and game controllers
6,expand them VIA pressing the little plus sigh
7.look for your sound device
8.right click your sound device and click properties
9. under device status it will tell you if your speakers are working properly
10. next to the general tab you will notice another proprties tab click it
11. audio deivces , midi devices and instruments , and mixer devices are there . expand them all via pressing the little plus again , your audio devive should be under all of them. highlight the 1st one example ( FOR ME IT WOULD BE ( RELTEK AC97) then below all that HIT properties make sure the (USE AUDIO FEATURES ON THIS DEVICE box is checked , do the same all all of the options in properties.
12. It may ask you to restart , do so if asked.
Plan 2 : If all else fails
Rolling back your driver , now when you roll back your driver it will go back to a preious drover that worked fine , so roll back your driver after you have done all this , im gunna need to know the soundcard you have and your speaker model and make so i can get you the correct drivers.
I will countine after you have done all of what ive asked
I followed all the things you mentioned but in the default driver no device is there. At that column no option is selected. While I tried to roll back it refered this driver has not been backed up.After expanding the sound, game controllers the following options were shown: 1.Audio codecs 2.Legacy audio drivers 3.Legacy video capture devices 4.Media control devices 5.Video codecs My speaker is Creative 585240,motherboard is Intel 915-GAG.Please tell me any other way. Any ways,Thank you for helping me in this way.If you re-installed XP then your drivers are no longer there...re-install the motherboard drivers including the onboard sound device drivers and post back on what happens... I've done that too.All but audio driver installation failed. DLoad and run Everest HOME which will tell you exactly what hardware is in this beast... I've got the folowing informatins using Everest Home software...
