hi.. my friend wants to run a set of speakers outside on his patio from his computer.. its not a very long run but IM sure the cables that normally come with a set of speakers will not be long enough...im assuming we will have to use computer speakers, right???  any suggestions on how to hook this up and/or what kind of speakers to use would be appreciated...thanks, JoeComputer speakers should be fine but, if it's too short, you need to get an extension cable.
Basically, its a long wire where you can plug the speakers into one end and then it goes into the computer.Well another alternative is, do you have a stereo that sounds good, has long speaker wires and hax AUX inputs?

Simply go down to your electronics store and ask for a 3.5mm male jack to RCA and you should get a cable that plugs into your speaker port and then into the AUX PORTS on your stereo and viola!

You now have awesome computer speakers and a GREAT way to entertain
