Answer» The speakers are plugged in, turned on, volume's up- but there's no sound. However, there is sound when I plug headphones in. I've been through the help pages already, but didn't know what to do when it came to the drivers (I don't know if that's the problem). Can anybody help? Is there a volume control on the speakers themselves?
What speakers are these - Old or new ones?
Have you double checked to see that they are connected RIGHT?
1) Verify the speakers are plugged into the correct port - both ends of cable.
2) Start>Control Panel>Sounds: Make sure that the sound isn't muted and that the volume sliders are 2/3 or more to the right.
3) Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager: Check 'Sound, Video, etc' - any yellow marks?
4) What PROGRAM are you using to generate 'sounds' - Windows Media Player, etc?Crafty: There is volume control on the speakers themselves and it's at it's normal setting. These are the old speakers. And the set-up looks right.
drmsucks: 1) They are in the right port. 2) Not muted, volume full power. 3) No yellow marks. 4) I've tried YouTube and Windows Media Player.
Have the speakers ever worked? With this computer?
Has anything changed - new hardware, new software that coincides with this problem?
Have you tried the speakers with a different computer?
Can you HEAR Windows sounds? Start>Control Panel>Sounds>Sounds Tab, click on a Windows Event sound and click on the > button to play.
Start>Control Panel>Sounds>Volume tab>Speaker Settings>Advanced>Speakers tab - is your speaker setup PROPERLY shown?
Start>Control Panel>Sounds>Volume tab>Speaker Settings>Advanced>Performance tab - try reducing 'Hardware ACCELERATION.'
I'm done!
Good luck! Please advise solution when you get it figured out.
